1 cup buttermilk (250ml) 1 egg (size L) 3 tbsp melted butter (45g) ¼ cup sugar (50g) 1 sachet vanilla sugar (or 1 tsp vanilla extract) 1 cup all purpose flour (120g) ¼ cup cornstarch (30g) 1½ tbsp matcha powder ¼ tsp salt ¼ tsp baking powder ¼ tsp baking soda
Combine all the wet ingredients (buttermilk, egg, melted butter) in a single bowl.
Sift the dry ingredients into the bowl of buttermilk and egg.
Preheat your waffle iron. To prevent sticking, brush some melted butter onto the waffle iron's surface.
Use a ladle to pour three to four scoops of batter onto the waffle iron, adjusting the quantity depending on your waffle iron's size.
Cook the waffles until they are fully done (no steam rising from the waffle maker).
Gently remove the waffles from the iron. Enjoy!!
You can made homemade buttermilk by combining 1 cup (250ml) of milk with 1 tsp of vinegar (5%), allowing it to sit for 10 minutes.
Potato starch can be used as a substitute for cornstarch.
Ceremonial grade matcha will result in waffles with a richer green color.
If your sugar has larger granules, you can mix it with the wet ingredients instead of dry ingredients.
