Cheese on toast is a beloved dish made by melting cheese on toasted bread under a grill. Popular in the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, the Caribbean, and Africa, it’s a classic after-school snack often enjoyed with savory toppings.
One day, I combined leftover cheese and ripe banana. It created a delicious surprise!!
I usually focus on Asian food in my blog but this toast would be an exception since it’s too simple and easy yet delicious. It deserves recognition!!

You only need 4 ingredients for this recipes:
- Toast: you can use any type that you like
- Grated Cheese (Emmental, Gouda, Cheddar or Mozzarella)
- Honey (optional)
- Mash the banana
- Spread the mashed banana onto your toasts (I typically use one banana for three slices of toast).
- Top with grated cheese to cover the toasts.
- Place the toasts in an air fryer and broil them at 200°C (390°F) for 6-8 minutes or until they reach your desired level of browning.
- Serve hot, and if desired, drizzle some honey over the top when serving. Enjoy!
- For a vegan version, you could use vegan cheese and maple syrup instead of dairy cheese and honey.
- You could substitute banana with ripe mango, apple (with a hint of cinnamon), or even durian if you prefer an exotic flavor.”

- honey (optional)
- Mash the banana with a fork
- Spread the mashed banana evenly onto your toasts.
