Soy Garlic Chicken Breast
As an Asian, I’m on team chicken thighs (my favorites are lemongrass chicken and gochujang chicken). Chicken thighs are juicy and forgiving, staying moist even if slightly overcooked.
But my boyfriend prefers chicken breast (he’s a typical German). So, here’s a recipe that strikes a compromise: an Asian-inspired chicken breast dish that’s both easy to make and incredibly delicious.

Ingredients
- Chicken breast: I used two boneless, skinless chicken breasts for this recipe. Just keep in mind that the cooking time might vary depending on the size of your chicken breasts. If you’re more of a fan of chicken thighs, they can work well here too.
- Seasonings: I lightly seasoned the chicken breasts with salt and pepper, as the sauce will take care of the rest of the flavoring.
- Sauce: The soy garlic sauce includes minced garlic, honey, soy sauce, butter, and rice vinegar.
How to make soy garlic chicken breast
- Begin by prepping the chicken breast, creating criss-cross incisions that penetrate about 2/3 of the way down without cutting through entirely. Lightly season the chicken with a sprinkle of salt and black pepper.
- Heat up your skillet over medium-high heat, then apply a thin layer of oil. Add the chicken and cook for 4 – 5 minutes per side, flipping once.
- After other 7 minutes, add butter, minced garlic, soy sauce, honey, and vinegar with the ratio 2:2:1.
- Simmer until the sauce thickens. Flip the chicken breasts to toss them in the soy garlic sauce.
